Artist Honey, makes her bananas into pieces of art. The graphic artist and illustrator always has bananas around the house and one day she decided to use the banana peels as a canvas. She makes small punctures in the skin, allowing air to reach the fruit. As the punctured banana peel turns brown, the organized patterns of dots reveal various and incredibly detailed designs, such as portraits of The Blues Brothers and Jim Morrison.

Each piece takes anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours to create and, when she’s done, Honey takes a photograph and then eats her art as a snack!

Honey says: When I’m not sitting in front of a computer, I’m always looking for something creative to do. We always have bananas in the house so then, I thought maybe I could draw on them but it wasn’t easy as I thought it would be. I kept puncturing the skin with my pen. So I came up with the idea of using a safety pin instead (something sharp and pointy to use at the time), similar to what my tattoo artist friend did when he sort of showed me how to tattoo. I spend half an hour to 2 hours on each piece. After they are completed, I photographed and eat them. It’s fun!

She must be bananas! I just had to say it!
